Treaty of Waitangi 

W.A.L.T: to understand how and why individuals and groups pass on and keep alive their culture and heritage.

We had to read a reading on the treaty. Then we completed a lot of work after we had done that. First we wrote our own class treaty (picture on the right) The treaty we made were some rules for our class room. Our reading group then signed our treaty with a fern pen with a quill nib. After we signed our treaty we  marked the places in New Zealand where the treaty was signed.

We studied this topic  to learn more about the Treaty of Waitangi and what it means to the people and to have a better understanding of it.  What we learned was all the places in New Zealand where the Treaty was signed.I also learnt that it was signed in the Bay of Islands and that it was signed in 1840 and the fact that it was first celebrated in 1974.

The challenges we faced were spelling  some of the words and  pronouncing some of them too.

Perimeter, volume and area DLO work

 We are learning to calculate the perimeter, area and volume of shapes:

1.  36 cm cubed 

(Insert photos of your two different shapes) 

1.  What is the perimeter of each shape?

         No.1= 14cm        No.2= 18cm. 

2.  What is the area of the bottom level of each shape? 

          No.1= 12cm squared      No.2= 18cm squared.

What formula can we use to work out: 

Perimeter:( L + W) x2

Area: L x W

Volume: L x W x H

 We have been learning about the different techniques to use in persuasive writing, which are Alliteration, Facts, Opinion, Repetition, Emotive Language, Statistics and The rule of three.
