Why Do Scientists Check The Temperature In Our Waterways?
Temperature affects water in quite a few ways. Testing water is important because the chemicals could poison animals, and affect the food chain if the animals are in the water and are not used to the temperature. There is equipment testing for the waterways.
Water temperature can affect the food chain. The water temperature can affect the food chain by killing animals who live in water if the animals are not used to a warm temperature or a cold temperature. For example if a fish was living in a river and was used to living at a good temperature for the fish and the water temperature changed to a really hot temperature really hot for the fish, the fish would not be used to the change and would die. If fish die other animals who eat fish will die and the food chain will break. This is why testing the water is very important.
Testing can help stop the food chain from dying. Scientists test for highly toxic chemicals, biocides, potassium etc.Too many chemicals can lead to increase in primary productivity which decreases water quality. Water can be poisoned so it is important so scientists check them for bad chemicals. This is the chemica;s in the water and what happens when there are too many of them.
For the equipment used for testing the waterways. Scientists use handheld and electronic meters which are used for testing parameters such as ph. Scientists also have two kits which include bacteria and chemicals. The electronic equipment is used to check if the water is safe or not. The person who is testing has to use the appropriate equipment for testing the equipment. This is the equipment used for testing the waterways.
Therefore, this is why it is important to test the water temperature. The equipment is very important too and you have to know how to test the water as well. So maybe you could be a water tester one day to help the food chain and you will know the equipment and what chemicals there are too.
