William Pike Cycle Ride

 William Pike cycle ride

On the 26th of May my class and I went on two different bike rides, Mananui Tramline and Hurunui Jacks for William Pike. We left school around nine and arrived at 9:50. My car group was Jordyn, Mrs Kemp and I. When we arrived we had to get our bikes and put our helmets on.

Before we started we had to take a compass bearing and every ten minutes we stopped and got the compass out. In my group were Ilish, Emma, Olive and I. About five-fifteen into the bike ride and my hands were freezing and the bush was covered in frost and it looked like crystals on the end of the trees. I only did half of them because I was really cold and was tired. Ilish teached me how to use the gears and get used to them. After a while I got the hang of using the gears. At the end of the track Donna was waiting there so Ilish and I hopped in the car and got warm. We waited in the car for about 15 minutes and then we headed to the next bike ride.

After minutes and minutes of driving we finally got there. Around ten minutes into the second bike ride my hands felt like freezing ice cubes and I wanted to stop but I didn't stop and kept going. After a while I was too tired so I stopped and caught up to Ilish. I was biking with Ilish, Emma, Olive and I and we were biking at the back. We stopped at half way and Ilish and I went at the front with Nadia, who is Breannas mum. Forty five minutes came by and the track was done. Donna was waiting at the end so Emma, Ilish, Shannon and I went and hopped in the car because we were too tired.

When we got back to the start we went in Billie’s horse float and put down the beds so we could have somewhere to hangout and sit. Ilish, Shannon, Emma and I were having a load of fun and then the rest of the class came. We sat down for about five minutes and had a talk then we got in our car groups and headed back to school. When we arrived at school It felt like my legs were gonna fall off then we went home.
