Wharenui
We have been learning about a Wharenui because we will be going to one.
WHARENUI
A wharenui is like a book because all wharenui tell a different story
about their tribe in the past. The wharenui represents a ancestor that has
passed away that the people that own the marae want to remember. The head is
called a koruru, the arms are called maihi, the hands are called raparapa, the
spine is called tahuhu, the heart is called the Poutokomanawa and the ribs are
called heke.

A Marae can be used for many different things. When a natural disaster
happens if you are not safe at your house you could always stay at the Marae
for free. They could give you food, water and somewhere to sleep. You could
have celebrations, Wedding,Birthdays and funerals at the Marae.
